Malta Student Award

At a ceremony on the 22nd of September 2010, held at the premises of the Malta Lotteries & Gaming Authority, Betsson Malta CEO; Magnus Silfverberg awarded the very first Betsson student award in Malta to Michele Sammut who won a cash prize of 1,500 Euro for his thesis "The Prevalence of Gambling Among University Students with a Focus on Internet Gambling"

The Betsson Malta Student Award is intended to be an annual award which has been created in order to increase awareness and interest in the field of gaming. This years winner had carried out a prevalence study regarding online gambling among students of the University of Malta. The members of the panel concluded

The members of the panel concluded that this thesis was particularly interesting and pertinent since there are no other Maltese prevalence studies in this regard. In addition, the research methodology was very aptly chosen and executed in accordance with the area of study.
