Today, The Swedish Sustainable Brand Index 2018 (SBI) ranking was announced. SBI is a perception study and it ranks what consumers think about different brands’ social and environmental responsibility. Betsson ranked last among the 326 companies, just after one of our closest competitors. It is clear that the perception of the gaming industry is very negative.
When it comes to caring for the environment, Betsson actively tries to reduce its climate footprint. We are actually climate neutral as we compensate for the carbon emissions we have.
In an attempt to bridge the knowledge gap, Betsson AB’s CEO went to the presentation of the SBI 2018. He told the audience that it is a disappointment to come out last, but he also took the opportunity to give his view on what we actually do and don’t do. Take a peak at Pontus' presentation:
When taking a closer look at what the consumers see as focus areas, it is clear that there is a knowledge gap. What consumers wish that the gaming industry did are actually things that we already do. A few examples from the report:
“Gambling on credit should be prohibited” – it already is.
“Don’t market gambling to people under 18” – we only accept customers who are 18 or older.
“Block gambling addicts” – we already do.
“Set deposit limits” – we actively encourage our customers to set deposit limits.
